The NSW Government has committed $6.7 million for the initial development of the new synthetic athletics track at Sydney Academy of Sport, Narrabeen. The project will support users from grassroots to elite across a range of sports.

The project scope includes:  

• A new World Athletics (WA) compliant synthetic athletics track with moisture resilient track surface  
• New asphalt sub-base  
• Drainage and stormwater system upgrades
• Accessibility improvements   

The project timeline is:

• Planning: Commenced July 2025
• Design: December 2024 to October 2025
• Construction: November/December 2025 to September Quarter 2026
• Completion: September Quarter 2026
