Records

Historical records exist for both Manly Warringah Little Athletics and Sydney Pacific.

Manly Warringah Little Athletics Records

For Little Athletics and Junior (A) athletics (i.e. competitions hosted by Manly) the following (an excerpt from the MWAC-Regulations - Section 6) applies:

A Centre record will only be set if the following criteria are followed:

  • Records can only be set as part of normal Centre competition (including the Centre multi). Centre records are not set at a Zone, Regional, State competition or if the athlete is allowed more attempts than any other competitor.
  • Records can only be set by athletes competing solely against athletes in their age group and gender (with the exception of the 1500m, 3000m and Walks)
  • A record will only be set if a member of the Centre committee validates it. This means that the onus is on the Age Manager to inform a committee member when they believe an athlete is about to set a record, or has just set a record.
  • Age Managers should familiarise themselves with current records before an event is commenced.
  • A member of the Centre committee is not allowed to validate a record of a relative (e.g. child, nephew, niece, grandchild etc.).
  • An Age Manager that is also a Centre committee member is not allowed to validate a record of a child in their own age group.
  • It is the Age Manager's responsibility to ensure that a Centre committee member is notified of a record attempt before it is attempted (where known – e.g. high jump) or as soon as a record is believed to have been set. If, at data entry time, a record is discovered without having been validated, then it will not be listed as a record
  • In a situation where the record is set without the Track and Field Manager/Records and results manager being notified and the appropriate official present, the validity of the result will be reviewed and factors including, but not limited to, the athletes other results will be considered when assessing whether the result can legitimately be considered a record.
  • The online records form must be completed by the committee member validating the record.

No records will be announced on the day they are set.  The record will be reviewed by the appropriate committee members and announced one validated.  Athletes who break a record will be presented with a certificate.

Current Manly Centre records can be found on the ResultsHQ website here.

    Sydney Pacific Records

Information for breaking Sydney Pacific records vary to the above information.

    The following rules apply:

    • An Athlete must be a member of the Manly Warringah Athletics at the time of establishing a new Club Record.
    • The Club Results & Records Officer ensures all Club Records are kept up to date by monitoring results from Competitions and Championship events throughout the year. This process is not  infallible – and the NSW All Schools are particularly difficult to monitor, at this stage.
    • For the purpose of  a record, an athlete’s age is their age at 31st December of the relevant year. This is to fit in with Australian Athletics and Athletics NSW, as the heights and weights of implements change on Dec 31 for many events.
    • If an Athlete considers that he/she has broken a Club Record then the athlete should contact the Club Results & Records Manager with the relevant information.
    • If Athletes, Coaches and Officials consider that a new category of record should be created, please contact the Club Results & Records Manager.

The following competitions, championships and their associated events will be considered relevant for establishing/breaking Club records:

    • World Athletics sanctioned
    • Athletics Australia sanctioned
    • Athletics NSW (or equivalent other states) sanctioned
    • NSW All Schools and Australian All Schools Championships
