AWARD PROGRAM
(Achievement - Work - Attitude - Results - Dedication)
The AWARD Program celebrates athlete engagement and achievement through the distribution of Recognition Pins that highlight both participation and personal bests (PBs) across weekly competitions and NSWA events.
During designated AWARD Weeks, Age Managers will hand out pins to athletes who reach key PB and participation milestones, encouraging consistent involvement and progression throughout the season. Additionally, athletes representing Manly Warringah Athletics at championship events will also be acknowledged with recognition pins, which will be available at athlete check-in or on Presentation Day.
To enhance visibility and pride in their achievements, families may choose to purchase a Manly Warringah branded bucket hat or backpack, customised with the athlete’s first name, as a display option for earned pins. Alternatively, families are welcome to use their own preferred method of showcasing or storing pins.
This recognition model offers a cost-effective, inclusive, and visible way to support athlete pride while encouraging season-long engagement and milestone tracking.
AWARD Weeks
AWARD Weeks will be held on the following competition dates:
- Week 6 – 18 October – Narrabeen
- Week 11 – 6 December – Narrabeen
- Week 16 – 31 January – ES Marks / Narrabeen (TBC)
- Week 21 – 14 March – Narrabeen
Pin Distribution
Age Managers will receive pins at the start of competition on each AWARD Week. These will be handed out to athletes who have achieved the required participation and personal best milestones.
Both the personal best and discipline-specific pins include two levels:
- Level 1 is designed to be attainable and encouraging for all athletes.
- Level 2 recognises athletes who show ongoing commitment and dedication throughout the season.
MWA Spirit Award
In addition to milestone pins, Age Managers are encouraged to present the MWA Spirit Award to one athlete each AWARD Week who:
- Has been consistently trying hard
- May need a boost of encouragement
- Shows outstanding sportsmanship
This is a flexible, values-based recognition designed to uplift and motivate athletes who might not otherwise be acknowledged through standard milestones.
