Overview

Overview

Manly Warringah Athletics offers competition opportunities across both the summer and winter athletics seasons. The type of competition available depends on the athlete’s age group and membership category, with pathways for Little Athletics, Junior Athletics, Opens and Masters.

The summer season is our main athletics season and includes weekly club competition, club training and a wide range of NSW Athletics events. The winter season provides access to NSW Athletics winter events, including cross country, road running and walks.

At Manly Warringah, we aim to provide a clear pathway from first participation through to representative and lifelong athletics. Our competition program is designed so athletes can participate, improve and stay connected to the sport at every age and stage.

Littles

Little Athletics is the main starting point for younger athletes at Manly Warringah. Little athletes can take part in weekly club competition during the summer season, with regular competition held at the Sydney Academy of Sport, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen.

For Little athletes in the 7s age group and above, there are also opportunities to represent Manly Warringah at selected NSW Athletics events, subject to eligibility and selection requirements. These may include Zone Championships, Region Championships, State Championships and State Relays.

Weekly competition is designed to be fun, structured and age-appropriate, while also helping athletes build skills and confidence across a range of track and field events.

Juniors

Junior athletes have a broad competition pathway at Manly Warringah. Junior athletes with a Category A membership can participate in weekly club competition during the summer season, while junior athletes with Category A or Category B membership can also access NSW Athletics competitions across summer and winter. Category B membership does not include weekly club competition nor weekly club training sessions - these benefits are only available to Category A members.

All junior athletes may compete in representative events and a range of NSW Athletics meets depending on age and event group. Junior athletes new to athletics are encouraged to take advantage of regular club competitions and weekly training sessions with a Category A membership as this provides a participation-focussed experience as the foundation for skill development and pathway progression.

Opens

Open athletes compete primarily through NSW Athletics events rather than weekly club competition. Summer and winter competition can include track and field meets, cross country, road races, marathons and walks. Summer opportunities include events such as Treloar Shield, High Velocity meets, Specialist meets, and State and National Championships.

These events provide a mix of club-based, open and championship competition across track and field. They give open athletes the opportunity to compete regularly, represent the club, and pursue individual performance goals across the season.

Masters

Masters athletes also compete through NSW Athletics opportunities across both summer and winter. Summer and winter competition can include track and field meets, cross country, road races, marathons and walks.

Manly Warringah supports masters athletes as part of our one-club athletics pathway. Whether returning to the sport, competing socially, or pursuing state and national level competition, masters athletes have opportunities to stay active and connected through athletics year-round.
